is a bi-monthly praxis and theory-based seminar run since 2020 at the “Royal” Art Academy of Brussels (ARBA) (old. AKA) and sometimes online.
The seminar starting point is the questioning of the very medium and context within which it is spoken from & with (aka the English tongue) – in a school and nation-state divided by language, (also its echo and reversal on class relations). Throughout the sessions we ask, read, present, perform relations to ourselves, works, histories and othernesses. Whether language is fully part of or alien to one’s artistic practice we attempt to address, confront and sometime caress its familiarity and strangeness so as to better assess the leverage we have with the meaning of forms and shapes (or the upheaval thereof).
Featuring Special Guests: Louis Henderson (The Living Dead Ensemble), James Goodwin, Katya Ev, Nelson Beer, Salma abdel Salam (NASA4NASA), Eleanor Weber (Divided Publishing), Mattin, Mirene Arsanios (Makhzin), Mlondiwethu Dubazane, Eric Van Hove (Fenduq), Hamza Halloubi, Margaux Schwarz +++
Thank you to A.Pass, New Polyphonies and Au Jus for the occasional lending of their venues for our sessions.
